The Brief
Ember & Stone came to Herald Lane with a vision for a boutique mountain inn that felt like it had always been there — weathered by seasons, warmed by fire, built for guests who travel to feel something.
We developed a complete brand identity rooted in the textures and tones of the Southern Appalachians: dark charcoal and amber, a letterpress logo mark that feels hand-pressed and permanent, typography chosen for warmth over elegance. Every touchpoint was designed to feel like the inn itself.

Brand Identity
Ember & Stone is a boutique mountain inn for travelers who come to feel something — designed for those who believe the best hospitality is unhurried, warm, and rooted in the land it sits on.
Brand Promise
You will leave feeling more like yourself than when you arrived.
“Come back to yourself.”
01
Warmth
Every space, every interaction, every detail is designed to make guests feel held. Not luxury for its own sake — warmth with intention.
02
Craft
Nothing here happened by accident. From the stonework to the stationery, every element was made by someone who gave a damn.
03
Rootedness
Ember & Stone doesn't try to exist outside of its landscape. It belongs to the mountains and the mountains belong to it.
04
Restraint
The best things don't announce themselves. Ember & Stone trusts its guests to notice what matters.
05
Belonging
Not a hotel you visit. A place you return to. Guests don't check in — they come back.
Color Theory
A palette built with intention.
Old growth bark and cast iron. Grounds everything.
Hardwood fire at its peak. Warmth and appetite.
Mountain morning fog. Softens without weakening.
Aged limestone in natural light. The resting tone.
A ridge at dusk. Distance and the promise of return.
Typography System
Type chosen with intention.
Ember & Stone
A place where the mountains hold you.
Zilla Slab carries the weight of carved stone — heavy, warm, unmovable. Lora brings calligraphic humanity to the body, ensuring warmth never tips into severity.
Photography Direction
How we see this brand.
Warm tungsten light over cool. Texture over perfection. Fireside over floodlit. Always shoot toward the light source. People in periphery, never posed. Negative space earns its place.
